Week 4!

Hello Blog!     We are back for another week! This was a very fun week for my internship! Every week, I feel a lot more confident with my work and settled into a routine. I built off of the work I did last week and started making a rough rough draft of education lesson plans. I did the bulk of this work on Monday, and it did take quite a bit of time. I did find it very enjoyable. I got to more formally organize my ideas and get a better picture of what I want to do and how I want these lesson plans to be written out and applied to the classroom. I got the chance to reflect on and build off of work that I had already done.      These rough drafts were kinda rough. It took a lot longer for me to put the ideas I had into more formal text and see the outline. I also got to see how it applied to the museum tour, so it gave me a better idea of what I wanted to do. So Monday was outlining certain ideas I did have and putting it into more formal text, and Wednesda...

Week 3!

Hello Blog!       The museum was closed on Monday, so no internship that day. Today was the only day of work for this week! I did so much today in preparation for beginning my semester project. Last week, I did a lot of research on the Florida standards for Civics and Government (6-12th grade) and noted down some of the standards that I wanted to utilize for my education lesson plan project. I built off of that by noting down past activities I did relating to some Florida education standards and describing what it was and why I liked it and what worked with it. It did allow me a chance to reflect and build off of what I have already done.       In relation to that, I also came up with new ideas and new activities that relates to some of the standards I had previously listed. It gave me a chance to brainstorm and come up with something new, which was a very fun task. I am learning a lot about my specific style when it comes to learning a...

Week 2 Post!

Hello!!!!      This was my first week at the office! It was a really cool but slightly overwhelming experience. I went over what I would be specifically working on and got to see the history center. Monday, my first day, I met the team and shadowed a field trip. Afterwards, I gave feedback and talked with my supervisor on what project she wants me to work on. I think I would a great for it and I am excited to jump right in! Today (Wednesday the 15th), I went over the CPALMS standards in more depth and reviewed current history education programs (K-5) and the civics programs (6-8 and 9-12). I also got my Orange County ID badge!      Overall, this week was very chill. I am enjoying what I am doing and I cannot wait to get started on my project. I already have some ideas in mind for lesson plans and more! I am very excited to continue this internship, and it has been a great experience so far.  See You All Next Week, Sabrina A.

Week 1 Introductory Assignment

Good Afternoon Reader! My name is Sabrina Aran and I am a current sophomore here at UCF. I am currently taking Legal Studies, History, and Political Science courses at the university. On Monday, I will begin my History Education Internship and I am very excited. I hope to learn more about history education and making lesson plans. I think it will be a different and great experience that will help me explore my interests more, especially in the field of education and Florida history!  Farewell,  Sabrina A.
